Our Christmas Traditions include a whole list of things we do! I love Christmas and so does my family. I think it's the best time of the year.
      1. We gather things we can donate to shelters, goodwill, donation boxes at the post office, etc. Things that are still in great condition but that we either know we are replacing at Christmas or that we either don't use or won't use for some reason, wrong color, style, size. It's a great way to make sure that people that cannot afford to go to retail stores find something great at Christmas and giving back feels good no matter what income your living on.....

      2. We make dozens of cookies and fruitcakes.
We give them to neighbors, friends, family, take to school or work with us, parties, etc. It is so nice for someone to give you cookies, something homemade during this time of year.

      3. We decorate together. It's always fun.

      4. We make decorations for around the house together too. I am good at floral arrangements, the kids are great at making craft ornaments, etc. Put it all together and viola it is very merry!

      5. We have Movie nights ... Nights of pizza and christmas movie magic!

      6. We have a list night, we all write our santa letters together. Even the adults.

      7. We go to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.

      8. We like to go out on Christmas Day to do something together. Coffee out, skating, something.

Woohoo , this Ozark Farm Chick brings out the full guns for Christmas. It's just the way I fly. Yep, I begin the day after Thanksgiving every blessed year.

To me, Christmas is totally about God and family. I set up a homemade Fudge, truffle, dipped pretzel hot apple cider bar in the utility room. In the kitchen you'll find a big old ham surrounded by homemade hot rolls, Aunt Mary's Scallop 'Taders, mounds of salad, and alllllll the trimmin's.

You'll find the gang gathered 'round a roarin' fire in the family room sippin' cider, droolin' fudge and swappin' wonderful tales of the past year. The eight, (yep...count'em...eight) grandkiddos will be runnin' though the house with some new and fantastic made up game.

Right after the pie the Christmas Story is read by Gramps (Farm Boy) and the presents are opened. The remainder of the day is spent just sittin' back and enjoyin' the hard work that goes into this day but I hafta tell ya'll....it's sooooo worth it!!!

From the happy hills and hollers of the magnificent Missouri, ya'll have a blessed and beautiful New Year....ya hear?

      I'm sure gonna......'just sayin' :o)

After spending the day making cookies and candies for the holiday as a family, we go deliver some of those goodies to older people who don't have family here. We go around checking out all the holiday lights people have put out for others to enjoy. When we get home we don't forget the animals and leave out solstice goodies for them too!

On Christmas Eve, rather than everyone stressing about feeding a crowd when we gather, each family brings an appetizer. We usually have a nice selection of food items and wine, then gather and enjoy being together.

every Christmas at least one of us gets a new Hallmark ornament for the tree. Something that has meaning from the prior year or an event in our life. Then we each take turns putting on the ornaments we've bought and retelling and roving those moments.

We usually don't have Family traditions for Christmas BUT we have 2 things for the New Year..1. Black Eyed Peas for luck and 2. We never do laundry on New Years Day or we wash a family member away..yeah kinda morbid side to that but it's been handed down 3 generations that I know of well 4 now that I passed it down to my kids who are now fully grown lol.
